What do I need to make Stovetop Swedish Meatballs & Gravy?

Here’s a list of all the ingredients you’ll need to make a delicious, hearty meatball dinner!

How to Make Stovetop Swedish Meatballs & Gravy

Meatballs

In a medium bowl, place all of the meatball ingredients except the butter. Wearing disposable gloves, use your hands to mix the ingredients until evenly combined. Scoop the meatballs into 1-2 tablespoon-sized portions, roll into balls, and set aside on a plate.

Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add half of the meatballs and cook for 2 minutes per side, until all sides are evenly browned. Remove and set on a clean plate. (They do not need to be fully cooked at this point as they will be going back in the pan shortly.)

Gravy

When all the meatballs are removed from the pan, reduce heat to medium low and add the onions. Sauté for about five minutes, until the onions become translucent. Then add the garlic and sauté another minute, stirring frequently to prevent burning.

Next, add the flour. Whisk it into the leftover fat in the pan. Cook for about one minute, stirring constantly and being sure to scrape any browned bits off the bottom on the pan.

Add the bone broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and spices and mix well. Then add all the meatballs back into the pan and cook uncovered until the internal temperature of the meatballs reaches 145℉ and the sauce has thickened. This should take about about 10 minutes.

Remove from heat and adjust spices to taste. Serve over a small portion of brown rice with a generous side of seasonal veggies! Enjoy!
